Choosing the Right Steel Drum for Your Product
Option A: The Closed Top Steel Drums (Tight Head)
Best For: Low-viscosity liquids (Water, Oils, Juices, Thin Syrups, Solvents).
The Design: The top is permanently welded to the body. Access is only through two “bung” openings (2″ and 3/4″).
The Benefit: Maximum structural integrity. Because there is no removable lid, there is zero risk of the lid popping off, evaporation or spillage during transport. It is the safest option for transporting hazardous liquids.
Fittings: Comes with standard NPT bung fittings for easy pump or spigot installation.
Option B: The Open Top Steel Drums (Removable Lid)
Best For: Solids, Pastes, Powders, High-Viscosity Liquids (Honey, Glazes), or Mixing applications.
The Design: The entire lid can be removed. It is secured by a heavy-duty Bolt Ring and gasket.
The Benefit: Full access to the interior. You can insert mixers/agitators, scoop out thick products like tomato paste, or easily clean the drum for reuse.
Dual-Rating: Unlike standard drums, our Open Top version is UN-Rated for both Liquids and Solids, offering maximum versatility.
